Teaching Guide

1) Objectives of the area or areas involved.

This Webquest is designed to help 6th primary students develop an interest towards authors within literatura.The classess will enable the pupil to find their way around the internet in a safe and interesting way.

The activity will be spread out into three sessions.

Objectives

  • 1.         Learn to read English literature.
  • 2.         Find out about a well-known English Aurthor of child’s literature
  • 3.         Develop the ability to research and choose information on the web
  • 4.         Improove their organisation skills by putting a timeline of books into chronolgical order.
  • 5.         Write a synopsis of a novel using their imagination and in their own words.
  • 6.         Enhance their oral fluency by presenting their novel to the rest of the class.
  • 7.         Have fun sharing their knowledge and experience with others
  • 8.         Learn to use ICT technology in a responsable, fun  and dynamic way.

The style of writing is like an adventure and the students are going to attend a virtual tour of Matilda’s library. (A character from one of the Aurthor’s famous books) And thanks to this visit and the help from the vitual librarian, Mrs. Phelps, the student will find this to be a fun learning experience, doing tasks that will help them to get to know the life and Works of Roald Dahl.

All the tasks within the webquest will eventually be rewarded at the end with a prize. (Bookmarks to use as they read more books at home). This will be handed to them by the teacher  and this will encourage the student to stay focussed throughout the webquest.
